Strutt & Parker have had a considerable number of new offers made on properties that took place in their 9th National Open House Day on Saturday 6th April.
Initial offers had come in at a record breaking £50m worth but in the last week this has now increased to a staggering £78m with still more coming in. These kind of unprecedented levels of offers would suggest that the Spring market is feeling more confident.
These figures beat all previous levels achieved over the past 8 events that Strutt & Parker have held. This month’s event has now resulted in 42% more offers than exactly the same event last year in the Spring and is the highest ever recorded since the event was created back in 2009.
The day comprised 550 properties on the books, with Strutt & Parker opening their doors to buyers without any need for specific appointments. Buyers, once registered, are able to visit as many houses as they like in the day meaning it is more flexible and informal, which makes the day more enjoyable and relaxed.
One particular office, Cirencester, enjoyed particularly excellent results from the day with 30 offers coming in as a result. The office had 17 houses available to view and over 80 individual viewings took place. To date, offers have been made of up to just under £20,000,000, which again breaks all records for the day.
Sam Trounson, Head of Strutt & Parker’s Cirencester office said: “This year has seen a record breaking success for our office as well as our company. The sun came out, which always helps, and there was a real feeling of positivity from the buyers we met, who were enjoying the more casual approach to house hunting. The offers we have received shows that clearly there is demand out there and it sometimes takes something a bit different like this initiative to draw real action from the market.”
Strutt & Parker’s next Open House Day event will be held in Autumn 2013.
