WRAP On-Farm Anaerobic Digestion Grant and Loan Briefing

Q1 2014

Small-scale on-farm AD has a great potential in the UK. Many UK farms are of a scale to sensibly provide the feedstock needs of a sub 250kW plant.

This has the added benefit of eliminating the need to move waste off site to serve a larger AD facility which involves complex permitting and planning arrangements.

In order to try to reduce the barriers to the development of smaller scale on-farm AD WRAP have launched a £10m fund to provide grants for feasibility and loans for up to 50% of the project cost for development.

The grant is only available for projects that utilise farm waste e.g. slurries or manures from livestock or discarded vegetable waste from processing or packaging. These wastes must form the majority of the feedstock and therefore this grant is not available to farms that would be looking to grow crops such as maize.
