Off the beaten track
April Cottage is a mainly period house which has been extended a number of times over the years. It has attractive painted elevations and there are lovely views over both the garden and the adjoining countryside. The original part of the house has great character with a beamed ceiling and a large period fireplace in the sitting room. The light sunny garden room leads off which opens into the dining room which in turn leads to the kitchen. April Cottage is not listed and offers a purchaser a great opportunity to alter the house to suit their own requirements, capitalising on the great setting.
Outside
A 5-bar gate opens onto a gravelled driveway leading to the house. To the rear is a double garage with a door leading to the first floor which comprises a studio bedroom and en suite shower room. Close to the house is an indoor swimming pool, with glazed doors along one wall and arched windows along the rear wall, affording distant views towards Hankerton Church. The garden lies to the south of the house and comprises lawns with mixed borders, flowering shrubs and mature trees. There is a gravelled terrace outside the garden room and a small vegatable patch in the north west corner of the garden.
Situation
Bullocks Horn is a pretty little hamlet, tucked away amidst open Wiltshire countryside between the villages of Charlton and Hankerton. Nearby Malmesbury is an ancient market town with good everyday stores (e.g. Waitrose and Aldi) and other independent shops. Other local towns include Tetbury and Cirencester. The main regional centres include Swindon, Oxford, Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol, all of which are within daily commuting distance. Good communications, being about 11 miles from Junction 16 of the M4 and 10 miles from Junction 17.
Directions
From Malmesbury take the B4040 east towards Cricklade. Go through Charlton village and continue eastwards. After about half a mile, pass a right hand turning for Garsdon (Moor Lane) and take the next left (a small lane) for Bullocks Horn. Continue on for about a mile and April Cottage will be found in front of you as the lane bends to the right.
