A handsome Georgian townhouse in a desirable central Deal location

Situated in the sought after Deal Conservation Area, Compass Cottage is an elegant end-of-terrace townhouse, within easy reach of the award winning high street and sea. The property has an abundance of charm and is sympathetically styled to provide a warm and welcoming feel. There is a 70 ft (max) south-facing walled garden to the rear.

To the front is the comfortable sitting room with wooden flooring, a sash window with shutters, built-in shelving and a fireplace fitted with a wood burning stove. Adjacent is the relaxed dining room. Beyond is the stylish kitchen, which is well fitted with Shaker-style base and wall units with granite worktops; there is a Falcon range cooker with a gas hob.

Stairs from the dining room lead to the converted cellar, providing useful additional accommodation along with storage space, and which is currently used as a home gym.

On the first floor is a well-presented double bedroom together with a large family bathroom with a separate shower unit. On the second floor there are two further double bedrooms and a shower room. The rooms to the rear of the house have charming views of the former church on Union Road.

Outside

The property opens onto Duke Street, where there are parking bays along one side of the street for resident permit holders.

The walled rear garden welcomes plenty of sunlight throughout the day. There is an area of paved terracing with a lawn beyond, and a selection of plants, shrubs and hedgerows to the borders. At the end of the garden there is a wooden storage shed/summer house.

Situation

The property is enviably situated moments from the picturesque and charming town centre which has an award-winning High Street with a good selection of independent boutique shopping, cafés, public houses and restaurants.

The neighbouring towns of Sandwich, Dover and Canterbury are easily accessed via the A2 and A258 and together provide a comprehensive range of services. The area offers plentiful outdoor pursuits with lovely coastal cliff walks, fishing, sailing and a golf course.

Deal station provides direct high-speed routes to London, while London St. Pancras is reachable from Dover Priory in just over an hour. Access to the Continent is excellent via the Port of Dover and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone.

There is a good selection of state schooling including the Outstanding-rated Warden House Primary School, plus several noted independent schools in the area, including Northbourne Park, Dover College, St Faith's at Ash and St Lawrence College.

Directions

From Canterbury: Leave on the A257 towards Sandwich and continue for 11 miles. At the roundabout approaching Sandwich, take the third exit onto the A256/Sandwich Bypass. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Deal Road, then at the following roundabout, take the second exit to continue on Deal Road (A258). Continue straight ahead at one roundabout, and at the second, take the first exit onto London Road. After a mile, turn left onto West Street and after a further third of a mile, turn right onto Duke Street, where the property will be found on the right.
