In terms of living near enriching experiences, there are few better regions than the North East. The Angel of the North is indicative of the arts and culture scene that flourishes here, buoyed by a plethora of local museums and galleries that deal with national and regional content. Outdoorsy types will also be happy to be in proximity to various National Trust locations, as well as natural gems like Northumberland Park and Kielder Forest, both of which are known for their charming surroundings.

The North East might have a unique culture, but that doesn’t mean it’s a homogenous population. Families, young professionals, and doting, retired grandparents all call this region home. This is thanks to the variety of housing in the region, which consists of everything from traditional two-up two-down terraced housing in the centre of town to grand countryside homes with multiple rooms and expansive gardens.

Because of this diversity in population, there really is everything you could need in the North East. Newcastle has great public transport options and economic opportunities, while Morpeth has the space needed to raise a family and access to excellent schools. Outside of the major cities, public transport can be sparse, but the North East is well interconnected by road, and there are also effective motorway and rail connections to the rest of the country – if you can bear to leave after falling in love with the area.
